Skywatch on a partially rainy day

So a few days ago, it started to rain. Not just any day, though - the day that I had arranged to take vacation with my kids and husband, to go do something outdoorsy and fun. Hmm, we wondered, watching the drops - what to do? We decided to go to the Herodion (see my previous post), since it never rains in the desert...

We got there, and of course, it was still raining! This actually worked out to our advantage - what would later be a packed tourist attraction was still relatively empty. And the skies were breathtaking! Clear blue mixed with bright white, with some severe rainclouds scattered here and there. Here's an example, taken as the rain was letting up:

I especially enjoy looking at the shadows of the clouds - check out how it's dark nearby, and sunny farther off in the distance...

As always, click on the photo to enlarge... and be sure to go here to see more skywatch photos.
