Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #52

Here we are, at the last WWDD of this year - wow! How exciting! Time sure does fly when we're having fun :)
Here's the last installment of my October 2010 photos - these ones are actually a little bit monumental, for me, at least. Although I grew up in Chicago, I had never been to the top of the Sears Tower, until this trip! I know, I know, it's now called the Willis Tower, but it's going to be a little while before I naturally call it that... anyway, here it is - my impressions of the tallest building in the US:

And here's the view from the top:

And here we are, back down at the bottom:

I think that's enough windows to cover the week- next week we'll be back to our regular Israeli architecture!

Ruby Tuesday–back at last!

Wow, it’s been a long time since I posted to Ruby Tuesday. I’ve missed it! And I realized that I never posted this year’s seasonal pomegranate photos, back from Rosh HaShana! Here you go, better late than never:

Better late than never, right?

Here we are, back again for that always-fun meme!
Well, I'm totally rejuvenated by your comments from last week! I personally have a great time with this meme, and will be happy to keep it going for as long as I can! I was just worried about you guys... but if you're happy, let's keep it up! I'm also looking into the idea of a thumbnail linky - I've been happy with the ridiculously easy to use services at Simply Linked, but I agree that thumbnails are fun, so if I can do it, I'm willing to give it a try! Anyway, thanks so much for your support, everyone! And if you want to encourage your friends to play along, that's fine too :)

On to this week's post! Here are some pictures from Chicago, the second half of that trip we made back in October of 2010. I can't believe I never shared these with you! I'll actually be back in Chicago for a short visit in a few weeks - it would be kind of absurd if I hadn't posted these before that :)
I remember having a particular fondness for these structures, as a young girl - I found them mesmerizing! It was fun for me to see them again:

 Here's some "classic" Chicago architecture:
But this is the kind of building that pops into my head when I think of actually living in Chicago:
That's all for now, folks!

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #50

Wow! Here comes week number-five-oh of our little meme!
This leads me to all sorts of questions. What do you guys think? Should we keep this up? It's been almost a year, wow! Is there something you think we should do to make this different next year? We are indeed a wee meme - we generally get around 6-7 participants, and I think our highest week ever was 12. Does this bother you? Would you prefer a higher number? And if so, what can we do about it? This is the first meme that I've ever hosted, and I personally love finding interesting architecture each week. I'm not in it for the hits, I just like the personal weekly challenge. But I suppose it might be fun to have a larger audience, too. Please leave your ideas and opinions in the comments below - thanks!

And now, on to the windows and doors! I was going through some of my older photos, and discovered that there were some that I had from a trip back to the US that I never posted, from two years ago exactly, in October 2010. Man, are these ever the antithesis of what you usually see here in the greater Jerusalem area! So I figured it would be nice to share them with you. These ones are from Sharon, Massachusetts - an absolutely beautiful town. We were lucky enough to be there in Autumn, which was really ideal. First, here's the house where my mother in law grew up:
Here's a house that I actually did show you last time, but it's so lovely that I can't resist sharing it once again :)

And here are a few more views from nearby where we stayed that were just so dramatically different from what I usually see, I couldn't help grabbing my camera!

Oh, that was a nice trip! And it was good to come home, too :)

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #49

Welcome back to your favorite little meme!
Here's the front door of another house in the same neighborhood as the one I posted last week. Lovely, don't you think? Not very wheelchair friendly, though :(
I do like the looks of this, though - something about the formidable Jerusalem stone, contrasted with the light wood and flowers here, makes this very appealing to me.

Skywatch! Two lovely sunsets

About a week and a half ago, I glanced out the window as I was leaving work, and found this beautiful sight. This was taken through my car window:

Pretty, right? But then, to my surprise, the very next day, it looked like this:

I thought it was a really cool range of options, myself :)
