It is the arches in the first three picture that are favorites - it seem such a classy detail that we rarely see over here. All these portals are great as they are inset into stone facades. In our suburban neighborhood in southern Connecticut, just about every house is clad in vinyl siding - pretty much maintenance free, but the stone exteriors are much classier and more elegant to my eyes!

I, too, really like these stone exteriors. The grills over the windows are a bit foreign to North American eyes, but they are rather attractive.

Those bars make nice shadows.
I really like the second doorway with the awning.

Lovely examples, Toby. Ironwork/grillwork seems to be an art form over there...I have enjoyed all the various designs you've shared with us.

Thanks so much for your sweet comments, everyone! I should emphasize that not every neighborhood in Israel looks like this particularly pretty one... but yes, the grillework here definitely is an element of its own :)

As you will see in my photos for this week, I too adore the stonework arches above doors and windows.

I love this photo story of Yemin Moshe. I also want to be naughty and do some macrame between the metal bars, or weave a rug, or decorate them with origami peace cranes:-) Shabbat shalom from NZ
