Oh my goodness, in all the excitement about hosting Shadow Shot Sunday 2, I got my days all mixed up, and am late posting this! Please forgive me, gentle reader. Better late than never, I hope! With no further ado... here we go!

This is a seminary building not far from my office. From afar it always looks a little like a bird to me:

But when I got a little closer to take this, it was downright beautiful! Check this out, I was completely unprepared:

This past week we celebrated Israel's 64th Birthday, and like most of our neighbors, we hung up flags. In the morning sun, they created some very festive shadows! Here's what I posted:

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #22

Here we are yet again, back for your favorite little meme: Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! This week I've found a doozy for you. My family and I were in Jerusalem, when we happened across this famous building, the Chabad Center. I had heard of it, but never actually seen it in person. I knew that it was built to exactly match its original, located in New York, and so wasn't made of Jerusalem stone, like almost all its neighbors. But I didn't expect it to have such very lovely windows and doors! See for yourselves:

 

Nice, right? And very different than what we're used to seeing around here :)

Mellow Yellow Monday - Twins!

Here's a wacky thing that's been going on in my kitchen recently. For the past month or so, our eggs have been coming out with double-yolks. They're downright adorable!

I know it might not look so exciting from here, but trust me, each time any of us cracks open one of these, we start squealing with delight. Congratulations! Your egg is twins!

Shadow Shot - on Yom HaAtsmaut!!

We celebrated Yom HaAtsmaut last week, Israel's Independence day! Happy 64th to our little country. Here you can see how our local cars and homes have been decorated with Israeli flags:

On Yom HaAtsmaut, as you may remember, we enjoy hiking around somewhere we haven't been before. Here's the interesting split tree that we found at the end of our hike this year, after climbing a particularly steep hill. Nice shadows, don't you think?

And then on the way home, we found the winner for most decorated car. This must surely be the Prime Minister's vehicle :)

Wowee, we've hit the big two-oh! How exciting! It's been a busy couple of weeks around here, but Passover's over, and I'm hoping to have more time free now for blogging. It can't hurt to hope, right? At any rate, I've managed to find some lovely arches to post for this week:

We found these last week while visiting the ancient site of Tsipori. What an amazing place! These arches were found in the top floor of a very innocent looking building - my kids raced up to the top, and I decided to follow them. How lucky that I did!

Hey there everyone! Sorry I haven't been online much - we were quite busy getting ready for Pesach around here. Happy Pesach/Passover to all of those celebrating, and Happy Easter to those of you celebrating that! And Happy Sunday to the rest of you :)

My first instinct was to say that I'm sure the poor guys in this building need to run the air conditioner constantly. But when I took a closer look, I noticed that a bunch of the windows are actually open! So maybe I'm wrong :) Feel free to click on the photo, if you'd like to get a better look.

Walking to the train last week, I passed by this adorable door. What luck!

Isn't it cute? I didn't have time to go in, and it didn't seem to be open anyway, but I'm sure that there's a charming restaurant inside... maybe one day I'll have time to go back and see!

Mellow Yellow/Macro Monday! At the train station

Taking the train this past week, I found these fascinating textured tiles on the platform, to keep people from walking too near to the edge. They start out mild, and get more and more strongly textured as you get closer to where you're not meant to walk. I don't know if it works, but I think that the system is very cool. And even a little bit beautiful!

Shadow Shot - on the bridge

Well, as I mentioned, I've spent the last couple of weeks traveling back and forth to Herzliya. It's always nice to see other areas of our little country! To get from my course to the train station, I need to cross two bridges. The first isn't terribly exciting, but I was lucky enough to find the railing on the second one making lovely shadows in the late afternoon sun! Check it out:

I've been taking a course in Herzliya this past week. The course is interesting, but I've especially been enjoying taking the train to get there. It's a clean, smooth ride, and I really enjoy it!

While waiting between trains at the Savidor station in Tel Aviv, I found myself face to face with this building, making the trip even more worthwhile :)
