A hi-tech shadowy macro

I've been participating in a facebook group called Fifty-Two Frames, in which we each post a different themed photo each week. It's fun, and this week's theme was "Macro." As we all know, I only have a little point-and-shoot Canon (though I love it!), and certainly no macro lens... but I decided that this photo of a PCB that I shot at work was as close as I was going to get:

Pretty cool, right? I liked that one.

But lo and behold, as I was looking through the series that I had shot, I found that I also had some cool shadow action going on - the connector's shadows remind me of a picket fence:

Excellent! I'm so pleased with this double whammy of a photo shoot :)

I'm posting it to Shadow Shot Sunday, that always excellent meme, hosted at Hey Harriet. And I'm also posting it to Macro Monday (another great meme that I'm usually too intimidated to post to), hosted at Lisa's Chaos. Have a great week, everyone!

Great shadow shot. I love my point-and-shoot too. :)

I use a point and shoot and seldom get something this nice, especially so close up. Nice job! I like the shadows!

How impressive a sight ! Shrinking life to its real, important size. Thoughtful pictures indeed. Please have a good new week.

I like both of these! Those connector shadows do look like a fence. It looks like you have quite an interesting job there. Very technical looking! Probably all above my head! Your creative shots are cool! Have a great week Toby :)

Love the shadows one! So many ppl posted macros to 52F that were taken w/ P&S cameras -- apparently unless you have a special macro lens (or go the freelensing route!), a P&S will actually get you better macro results! (Use the flower setting...)

Thanks, everyone!

Hey Harriet - I'm sure what I do isn't over anyone's head, it's just in an impressive setting :)

Dena - Thanks, I do use the flower setting, but that's not exactly the same thing :)

I think you did very well with your P&S. Sometimes I throw mine in the bag just to try different things. I think you have to compose miuch better when you have a little less technology to assist you!

Yes, pretty cool. There is quite a lot of detail and the shadows on the 2nd shot are great.

you did a great job, lots of details. A theme/week seems nice I'm into 365/year....

I like it! I often find point and shoots do great macros! Lovely!
