It's Raining!! A Ruby for Tuesday

Well, after waiting, and praying, and complaining, and waiting some more, the heavens have opened up and it's been *pouring* rain over Israel ever since Saturday night! Thank God. And even better (who would have thought it could get better) this wet weather provided me with an interesting ruby:

Dunno, I was behind this guy, and all I could think about was Ruby Tuesday! Never fear, I was stopped when taking this :)

Skywatch - Another matching sunrise and sunset!

Wow! I had thought that twin skies were pretty unusual, but it happened again! On Tuesday morning this week, the sun rising on my way to work looked like this:

And then, on the way home:

Okay, I guess they're not exactly the same. But pretty similar no? And both beautiful, I think :)

Back to Tsfat

Remember, a few months ago, we were in the middle of posting a bunch of windows and doors from Tsfat? Well, we may have gotten sidetracked, but that doesn't mean we can't pick up where we left off, right?

And so, here are some more cool doors that we saw on vacation this past summer, spending a few hours in Tsfat, up North. First, this lovely mosaic:

This fun door-within-a-door:
Here's my then nine year old daughter peeking inside - a perfect fit!
And this fancy, jeweled grillwork on a small window:
Isn't that pretty!

I'm posting this to Mary's fun meme: Window Views... and Doors, too! Go check it out right now, you'll be happy that you did! Have a great day, everyone!

A hi-tech shadowy macro

I've been participating in a facebook group called Fifty-Two Frames, in which we each post a different themed photo each week. It's fun, and this week's theme was "Macro." As we all know, I only have a little point-and-shoot Canon (though I love it!), and certainly no macro lens... but I decided that this photo of a PCB that I shot at work was as close as I was going to get:

Pretty cool, right? I liked that one.

But lo and behold, as I was looking through the series that I had shot, I found that I also had some cool shadow action going on - the connector's shadows remind me of a picket fence:

Excellent! I'm so pleased with this double whammy of a photo shoot :)

I'm posting it to Shadow Shot Sunday, that always excellent meme, hosted at Hey Harriet. And I'm also posting it to Macro Monday (another great meme that I'm usually too intimidated to post to), hosted at Lisa's Chaos. Have a great week, everyone!

A Shiny Skywatch

I caught this one on my way to work a couple of days ago. Man, I'm going to miss wintry clouds when they're gone!

A New England Door!

Here's another door that I found in Massachusetts this past October. I really liked the design and color - what could be lovelier? Plus, I've always been a fan of combining yellow with periwinkle :)

Some ruby red... triangles!

I've been bringing different games and puzzles to work recently, and here's my most recent one. I like it a lot, if only because it's full of triangles (the obvious choice for best shape ever) and - it's got red! Finally, I have something that's actually RED to post for Ruby Tuesday!

Okay, it may not be the fanciest piece of photography you've ever seen, but - it's RED!

Flowers from Today - it's been a long time...

Well, the weather didn't really provide many shadows this week. But in fairness, it didn't provide a lot of flowers, either. However, I have this photo that I took last month - at one point in the morning at work, my computer was being used by someone else, and I wandered around outside, looking for something to photograph. I found this kind of beat up flower, and liked it:

It's got a bit of character, don't you think? It's holding it's own :)

Anyway, it's been a long time since I posted to the Today's Flowers meme, but it's a good one! Why don't you go over there right now, to see for yourself. Have a great week, everyone!

Skywatch - Thanks, Moran!

I happened to wake up on time yesterday, and noticed that the windows were glowing a bit red. I looked outside, and found this:

Nice, right? I was pleased with it, and pleased with myself for having found it.

Around eleven hours later, I was in a meeting with my boss and another coworker in a windowless office. My boss got a phone call from his daughter, Moran, who told him that the sunset was beautiful and he should go outside to see. He happily told his daughter that he loved her, and the three of us went outside. Naturally, I grabbed my camera on the way:

Wow! I'm a big fan of clouds, as you all know, but those were really something special - thank you so much, Moran!!

A modern arch!

On our trip in Boston a few months ago, we found ourselves walking past this intriguing building. I'm sad to say that I don't know what it is (and the folks we were walking with weren't really interested in stopping to find out), but I really like it!

Maybe I'll have time to stop by and get a better look the next time I'm in town!

I'm posting this to Mary's cool meme - Window Views... and Doors, Too! Go there now, to check out more interesting architectural photography from all over the world.

Happy Wednesday, everyone!

Some whole foods - Ruby Tuesday?

I've been using more and more new ingredients in our kitchen, and they seem to be slowly taking over my counter. (I find that leaving them on the counter reminds me that they exist, and encourages me to keep using them.) I think the collection is actually very attractive, which is fortunate. Do you agree? Feel free to click on the photo if you'd like to get a better view:

I know that there isn't much actual red here, but those orange ones are technically called red lentils! And so, I'm allowing myself to use this photo for Ruby Tuesday, that always-fun meme, hosted by Mary at Work of the Poet. Go check it out right now, to see reddish photography from all over the globe! Have a great Tuesday, everyone!

Shadowy Arches

There I was, waiting for my father-in-law's appointment at our fancy shmancy new local medical center (just a check-up, never fear) when I happened to look out the window. I saw these arched shadows, and immediately thought - Shadow Shot Sunday! And, ever-responsible, ran out the door to get a shot. Oops. Well, they still hadn't called his name when I got back - I'm not completely evil, right?

Judge me as you will. But I still think that these shadows rank among the classier that I've found!

Go check out more fun shadow photography, at Shadow Shot Sunday, beautifully hosted as always at Hey Harriet. Happy shadow searching, everyone! And have a great week!

Skywatch - A Sunrise

Well, we had a lovely sunrise this morning! It looked like this in the East:

But I thought it was cool to see the sun shining on the hills in the West, too:

And here you can see it reflecting off the windows in the town across the highway:

Cool, right?

A window for Wednesday - already!

Wow, this week is going by quickly. I'm glad that I didn't forget Mary's great Windows and Doors meme! Here's my entry for today:

I really like this one!

Ruby Tuesday - hands off of that, please!

Here's one from our trip to the States that I wanted to post a while ago. Well, better late than never! We found these chairs in a storefront in Chicago. They certainly do make an impression...

Not much to add to that one, I don't think :)

Shadow Sunday - Happy New Year!

I just can't believe that it's 2011! Well, I guess I can believe. But time sure does fly! Seems like just yesterday I was trying to get the hang of signing '10 instead of '09...

Anyway, the weather here turned cloudy and even a bit rainy this past week. I know that Europe and North America have been covered in snow, and so I thought that we could all do well by remembering greener times. Here are some photos that I took of Cindi's backyard, this past October:

Wow. Can't you just feel it?
