Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #96

Welcome back to your favorite little meme!

Continuing with photos from our trip to the US, here's a pretty door that I found in New Jersey:
And for those of you who are here to see some Israeli architecture, here's a house that I walked by in Jerusalem, just last week:

I found this to be really charming!

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #95

Welcome back to your favorite little meme!
I have a feeling that Ralph is going to like this week's post...

While visiting Washington D.C. recently, we went to the new Air and Space museum, out near Dulles. We were so pleasantly surprised - it was absolutely wonderful! Here's an outside shot, on that cloudy, cloudy day:

Inside, there were aircraft of all shapes and sizes, some parked neatly on the floor, and lots suspended impressively from the hangar, as if in mid-flight. And although we knew that the actual Space Shuttle Discovery was there, I was really unprepared for just how exciting it would be to see it in person :) Check out all of these cool windows (and even doors!)! And, as always, please don't hesitate to click on any of these photos, if you'd like a closer view!

There were loads of other things to see as well, naturally, this is only a brief sum-up. The museum is free, one only needs to pay a flat fee for parking. Highly recommended!

And, for those of you interested in seeing a bit of Israeli architecture, here are some similarly themed photos - a little more from inside Tel Aviv's Ben-Gurion airport!
Can you tell what those arcs are at the bottom of this photo?
Yes, you're right - they're luggage carts!
Is it just me, or do these pillars look kind of like wheels, descending from an airplane?
And leave it to Ben Gurion to not only provide free, unlimited wi-fi, but also electrical outlets to all who need! These were everywhere - thank you!!
Just a few more shots...

Somehow, even after all these years of living here, it's still heartwarming to me when I see these Israeli flags on the El Al planes :)
Oh my goodness, I think that was by far my longest post ever! I promise to get back to regular, down to earth windows and doors next week :)

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #94

Here we are, back again for your favorite little meme!
Well, here in Israel, we're deep in that time of year lovingly referred to as "The Holidays." Anything you might want done from the middle of August and onward, you're likely to be told to wait until "After The Holidays." They consist of a whirlwind of feasting, fasting, more feasting, more fasting, feasting once again, and lots of celebration and dancing, over a three week period. We've passed all the fasting, and can look forward to just having fun from here on in :)

Anyway, in honor of all this religious atmosphere, I thought I'd share some windows from inside a synagogue that we found ourselves in, in Newton, Massachusetts, on our recent trip. I thought they were lovely!

And for those of you who are here to get their fill of Israeli architecture, here are two more red-light shots. I really do wish I were a photographer, currently it seems to be limited to when I'm sitting in traffic in Jerusalem :)

Well, that's it for this week! To participate in Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! just post your photo of a window, door, or anything architectural, link here, and sign up in the widget, below. Thanks for coming by - have a wonderful, whimsical week, everyone!

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #93

Here we are, back again for your favorite little meme!
As you may recall, we're still catching up a bit with some of the windows and doors that we saw on our recent trip to the US. Here are some that I found in Washington DC. Did you know that the Washington Monument was under scaffolding? Impressive nonetheless!

Here is the underside of a glassy staircase that we found:
And here are some other interesting shots that we found about town:
The back door of a familiar building:
 And a small memorial:
And now, for an Israeli find - here's a cute window that I came across this afternoon, while stuck in traffic in Jerusalem :)

Aside from the tissue stuck inside, I like it a lot!

Now it's your turn! Please join our wee architectural collection by linking up below, and don't forget to visit the other players, too! Have a wonderful, whimsical week, everyone, thanks so much for stopping by!

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #92

Welcome back to the latest episode of your favorite little meme!
Here we are, back again for the latest installment for the photos that we took while on vacation overseas. Yay!

Driving from Rochester to Silver Spring, we stopped spontaneously at the Corning Glass Museum. Surely there's no pressure on these guys to have a beautiful set of glass windows, right?

The next day, we stopped off in Ephrata, PA (quite exciting for us, as residents of Efrat, Israel)!

And for your Israeli architecture of the week, here's a fancy restaurant that we went to with friends recently. The service wasn't as impressive as we'd hoped it would be, but the architecture was lovely!

That's all for now! To participate in this Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! just post your photo of a window, door, or anything architectural, link here, and sign up, using the widget, below. Then go and visit the other players! It's lots of fun to compare and contrast different styles from around the world!

For those of us celebrating Rosh HaShana later this week, here are my very best wishes for a sweet New Year! And to everyone, have a wonderful whimsical week! Thanks for stopping by!
