Catching up on a shadow
A few weeks ago, we celebrated Yom HaAtsma'ut - Israel's Independence Day. A popular custom on Yom HaAtsma'ut is to go hiking, and explore this tiny but wonderful country that we live in. This year we went wandering around a place called Motsa with friends, and it was beautiful! Actually, we first stumbled upon a 9/11 memorial, which was a real surprise. I didn't know that Israel even had a 9/11 memorial!
It (a bit shockingly) contains an actual beam from Ground Zero.
(feel free to click on that one, if it's hard to read and you'd like a better look)
Anyway, we then moved on to being impressed by more natural beauty:
And at the very end, my friend Dena even found a shadow for me, making it that much more perfect :)
That's all, folks! Naturally, I'm posting this to Shadow Shot Sunday, that always cool meme hosted at Hey Harriet. Go check it out, for more cool, shadowy photography from all over the world.
And - Happy 63rd, Israel!

Those who look closely will see shadows in all your photos. Some are stark, and some are subtle.
I ALMOST LOST MY SHADOW
I almost lost my shadow,
I left it in the park;
I heard my mommy calling,
For it was getting dark;
She has no use for shadows,
She thinks they are quite grim,
And when she saw my shadow,
She thought it was a “him.”
I had to educate her
And tell her it was “she”—
And now my faithful shadow
Is welcome as can be!

Shadows in the Barrio
Interesting series of photos! I did not know about the 9/11 memorial in Israel either! And lovely shadow detail in the last photo!
Toby, thank you for the tour. Israel is so beautiful. The 9/11 memorial is touching and special. Lastly, your ShadowShot is sharp and clean. Terrific!! Happy SSS.
Oh I had heard about the 9/11 memorial when it was being planned but had not seen what it looked like, thanks for showing me :) great photos- great shadow snap shot too:)
I love the shadows.....very well shot and composed. Me, I love reflections where you have to look at a picture several times to work out what is happening. I took one today - I'll post it later this week. Blessings from Middle Earth.
Oh that last one is especially gorgeous!
Happy 63rd Israel! Hip Hip Hooray!
PS - You asked if I tinted my pics in some sneaky fashion? ..haha, no they were taken on an iphone app so they tend to come out a bit odd looking with out of whack kinda colours :)
