A couple of weeks ago, we were at our local dog park, when I heard some strange noises. I looked just above the park, and to my surprise, the frame of a building was being assembled. In Israel, the vast majority of construction is concrete, so this really took me by surprise! The weather wasn't great, so I came back a few days later when the sun came out a little bit, to show you what's going on. It's wacky - check this out!

 Mildly interesting, right? But I could look at the geometry all day long...

I'm so curious to see how this will end up!

Wow, time flies! here we are, it's Monday again, time for your favorite little meme!

You know how I always say this meme is where you can post a photo of "a window, door, or anything architectural?" Well, this week I'm going to put my money where my mouth is, and post a photo of - well, can you tell what this is?

I was looking through my archives, and I came across that one. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was that I had photographed, back in 2010. Some interesting planters? Some kind of strange decorative roof design? Until I realized that the photo needed to be rotated a bit, and all was suddenly clear :)

A couple of weeks ago, I was out shopping, when the sunset suddenly caught my eye. So pretty! I reached into my bag for my trusty camera, when I realized that the tiny barbershop door made this into a really nice composition:

This is actually a kind of interesting storefront - it's completely unmarked, and for a few years I thought that perhaps the barber had gone out of business. But every so often, the door opens, and the lights come on...

Skywatch Friday - Finally :)

Every week I say this will be the week, I'm picking up and starting to blog again. Just watch me! The easiest meme for me to participate in is Skywatch Friday; thank God, I am truly blessed with beautiful sky views in every direction. And each week, Thursday night arrives, and I am busy. And pretty soon it's Friday and I've missed it. But not today - here I am, with the sky as I found it as I left work this afternoon, at 5:00:

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #66

Here we are, back again for our favorite meme!

This past Friday was very exciting for us, and for around 20,000 other people as well. We went to the Jerusalem Marathon! My husband and daughter ran a 10K. My daughter joined a running club this year, and so we've been to some races like this before, but the amount of people here really blew me away. For example, at other runs, there's been an inflatable pink arch to run under. Here, an enormous doorway was specially built :)

Just to give you a sense of the size of this event, here is a view as the race was about to begin. These people aren't spectators like me, they're people waiting to start running!

 

Amazing, what an absolute thrill! My daughter has done three 5K races this year, but this was her first 10K, and I am really amazed and proud of her!
