Shadow Shot - better late than never?

I can't believe I never posted this! Almost two months ago, we witnessed an interesting astronomical event: Venus passed between Earth and the sun, creating a (relatively small) shadow on the sun! We were lucky enough to see the end of it, and even managed to get a photo:

See that spot toward the top? That's the shadow of Venus! Cool, right? Even all these months later :)

Skywatch - so hot!

We've been having a heat wave over here - thankfully I live in the mountains, and so even when it's blazing hot, we usually still have a breeze. But there have been no clouds to speak of, and record-high temperatures. Does this evening's sunset express that as well as I think it does?

I captured this window a while ago, but I decided that the shadows here were actually much more impressive than the window itself, and so I've saved them for Shadow Shot Sunday.
