We were at the sculpture garden in Jerusalem's Biblical Zoo yesterday with the kids, enjoying one of the last days of vacation. They have lots of these cool mosaic-covered climbing-things shaped almost like animals - well, it's kind of hard to describe in words, but quite unique, and quite gorgeous. There's a bunch of red in them, so I thought maybe I could post these for Ruby Tuesday - here's a shot of a whole one, and another close up of one of the mosaic bits:
We really enjoyed them - how pretty!
Don't forget: On Tuesdays, just post any photo you like (it must be one of your own) that contains the color RED and then link to this blog. Happy Ruby Tuesday!

Skywatch - a sunset
Here's one I got off our balcony this past December - isn't it pretty?

Tal Burger
My husband and I went out for dinner this past week. When we arrived, the restaurant was empty, and this seemed quite picturesque, somehow. Within a few minutes of taking it, of course, a lot more people showed up...

Succulents are the best!
Here's a favorite of mine, enjoying the sun on our balcony:
I think succulents are fantastic for those of us who enjoy plants, but don't have a lot of time to take care of them - they're very low maintenance, and they always look great! These almost look like caricatures of flowers - don't you think?
As always, clicking on the photo will enlarge it. And do check out more flowers of the day here!

SkyWatch - in Nahariya
Well, I didn't post anything for SkyWatch Friday last week, so I'm hoping to make up for it here. This is a shot that I got last Friday, while vacationing in the coastal town of Nahariya. It was a great trip - and a great sky!
Go check out the SkyWatch site for lots more gorgeous photos!

Mushrooms
The Mahane Yehuda open market in Jerusalem is known for having great, fresh produce (and more). Considering that it's less expensive than stores, and much higher quality, you'd think that going there regularly would be a no-brainer. And yet, it's out of the way for me, and I don't go as often as I should.
Last time I was there, though, I realized that it's also a great source of things to photograph. My favorite was this (click on the photo to enlarge - it's got great texture!):
Cool, right?

A Thorny Ruby
Here's one I found on a rocky hillside, this past April:
That's a case where looking is a lot more fun than touching, methinks.

A nice tree/flower combo
Here's one I came across not long ago, while out on a fun evening with my co-workers. Nice use of the tree, don't you think?

Hutzot HaYotzer
Last night we went to Hutzot HaYotzer, the annual art festival in Jerusalem. Here are just a few of the memorable things we saw there:

A last minute ruby
I was feeling pretty badly about not posting anything for Ruby Tuesday. Then, on my way home from work, I spied this:

Ruby Tuesday 3
Wow - these Tuesdays are rolling around faster than I expected. Here's a red scene that I dug up from a couple of years ago. Let's hear it for digital photo technology (that enabled me to just find this and post it - in the same quality it was two years ago. Remember film?)!

Another nice one from the Botanical Gardens
A few weeks ago:
Turns out that, photo by photo, I'm discovering new color preferences. Just like in my previous post (where I hadn't realized that I like the color orange) here I'm faced with pink - a color I know quite certainly that I just don't like. And in t-shirts or couches, it's totally true. But here? What could be lovelier?
