Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #74

Here we are, back again once more for your very favorite little meme!
I thought I had posted this already, but apparently I haven't, so here goes! This building near mine has a slightly mesmerizing shape to it, I really like how the balconies all slide between one another. You'll recognize some of these windows and railings from my Israeli flag collection, a few weeks back :)
(Sorry for the delay in this post, everyone. Last week the linking site gave me trouble, this week Blogger wouldn't let me upload photos until this morning. Photoblogs aren't much good without photos... anyway, sorry for your trouble, here's hoping next week is smooth sailing!)
Anyway...
Now it's your turn! To participate in Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! just post your photo of a window, door, or anything architectural, link here, and then sign in the widget, below. I can't wait to see what you've found this time - have a great week, everyone!

Skywatch - check out my awesome new camera!

I think I may have mentioned that my parents were amazingly generous, and bought me a big fancy camera, for my recent big round birthday. I'm still working on how to carry it around with me like I do my little camera, but meanwhile, I haven't had as many opportunities to use it as I'd like. Anyway... late this afternoon, I noticed the moon rising in the east, and grabbed my little camera. Pretty, right?
Suddenly it occurred to me that this was a great opportunity to try out my cool Canon Rebel, so I ran inside to get it. I tried to zoom to about the same distance, and got this:
But wait, it can zoom even further...
*and* I can play with where I focus...

This is fun - yay!

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #73

Here, we are once again, here at your favorite little meme!
A couple of weeks ago, my youngest daughter mentioned that they had received a tree house for the kids at her school. "Tree house?" I wondered, not sure what on earth she was talking about. And then when we came to the school for the science fair, we were greeted by this amazing, amazing thing. Just take a look for yourself!
It's an actual Lincoln Log house - wow! Now those are what I call worthwhile windows and doors :) I used to play with Lincoln Logs for hours when I was a kid - I get a kick imagining some gigantic people putting this together for my daughter's school :)

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #72

Here we are, back for your favorite little meme!
Well, it's that time of the year again, and we Israelis are on a crazy rollercoaster of emotions. You recall that last week was Yom HaShoah, our Holocaust Memorial Day, and that certainly wasn't easy. Today is Yom HaZikaron, our memorial day for Israel's fallen soldiers and victims of terror. And tomorrow will be Yom HaAtsma'ut, our Independence Day, the day that we celebrate like there's no tomorrow. Wow! Anyway, our whole country is decorated in blue and white for the occasion - I went on a short photowalk this morning, so I could better give you the idea:

This one is really impressive, it must have been a group effort:

This one is cool, you can still see the creases of the brand new flag:

I like this teeny tiny one, living in a planter :)

Well, those are my whimsical windows and delirious doors for the week! To play along with us, please post your photo of a window, door, or anything architectural, and link to it here in the widget. I can't wait to see what you've found for us this week! And for those of us celebrating, have a fantastic Yom HaAtsma'ut!

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #71

Here we are, back again for your favorite little meme!
I found these lovely, brand new windows this afternoon. Aren't they sweet? I am always a sucker for interesting ironwork...
Tonight marks Yom HaShoah, Israel's Holocaust Memorial Day. Something about these crisp new windows, built by Jews who are free in their own land, a land of religious freedom for all, contrasted with the images of the Holocaust, could almost give someone the chills. Thank God we are where we are in this world, and not where our parents and grandparents were!
