Skywatch from Jerusalem

Sitting at a red light in Jerusalem a few days ago, I suddenly decided that the sky was particularly lovely, and framed in an interesting way by these buildings. I'm so pleased that my camera is always in my bag!

Ruby Tuesday - An Abandoned Pepper!

Are you looking to adopt? I may have just the thing for you.

I walked outside my office this morning to make a phone call.
When I suddenly spotted something very red on the ledge. There, do you see it? Whatever could it be? Let's get a little closer:
 My goodness! It's
 a beautiful, ruby red pepper!

I've no idea as to why it was there. A friend of mine suggested that maybe it's a very very small CSA box :)

But I decided that finding it was a sign that I should participate in this week's Ruby Tuesday 2, now hosted by Magical Mystery Teacher and Gemma Wiseman! Come and join me, and check out all the cool reddish photography that's been submitted this week.

It was also pointed out to me that this is a nice candidate for Shadow Shot Sunday 2, so I'm linking there as well! Better late than never, I guess :)

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #12

Wow, that was a fast week! I didn't even have a chance to post, and now we are, back at Monday again. Wow, time does fly when you're having fun :)

Back to the archives for me, and look at these beautiful windows (and doors!) that I found for you this past June! These are very nearby Mahane Yehuda, Jerusalem's open market:

How did I never post these? They're wonderful! And the way each floor has its own style of windows reminds me of the Colosseum :)

Please join us as we play along in our sweet new meme, Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! All you have to do is post a photo of a window, door, or anything architectural, link here, and then sign up in the widget below. And of course, don't forget to go and visit the other players! Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #11

Well, this is the first week since starting this little meme that I'm forced to go and rummage around in my archives. It's been a busy week! Fortunately, I found a photo that I took just this summer at the Israel Museum, in Jerusalem. I'm glad I had a chance to look back, otherwise it might have slipped through the cracks!

I realize that this might not seem too exciting, but I find it very interesting to see how modern architects, building super modern architecture, manage to build sleek new buildings while remaining faithful to Jerusalem's local law to line all its buildings with Jerusalem Stone. This stone, that seems so white during the day, but takes on a warmer hue when the sun rises and sets, really lends an interesting tone to the city. When I first used to drive around here, I always managed to get lost, and thought everything looked the same :)

Welcome back to our Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors, that fun meme where you can post doors of windows, doors, or anything architectural! Isn't it interesting how we're all so different, and yet so very similar :)

Shadow Shot Sunday 2 - Lucky me!

I got to host!

Here's the photo that I posted,
and here's the top of the stairway. These ones are less cool photos, but the shadows are a bit better :)

Skywatch!

This cool cloud action that I came across earlier this week made me suddenly think of a tv show that I vaguely recall watching as a kid, called Big Blue Marble. I didn't remember much about the show, aside from the name and an image of our planet, but a quick google search found the opening intro, here. What a great song!

Anyway, I couldn't decide which of these shots I like better, so I'm posting both. What do you think?

As always, feel free to click on either one, if you'd like a closer view!

A Ruby Red Pepper for Tuesday

It's Tuesday! That means it's time for Ruby Tuesday 2, that rouge colored weekly meme. And just in time, my daughter noticed that these vegetables that we were getting ready to turn into soup were so picturesque...
That was good soup :)

Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! #10

Wowee, we've reached the big one-oh! I remember when I turned ten years old, and my Bubby told me that it was a very exciting age. Why? I had gained another digit, which wouldn't happen again, she wisely pointed out, until I turned 100! As you can see, the conversation left quite an impression on me :)

Anyway, our new little meme, Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors, is now in its double digits, and I'm just tickled to think about it. We all have access to windows, doors and more - and I know I have a great time finding good specimens to share with all of you! Thanks to you, my loyal posters and readers, who come back each week! Now please tell all of your friends to do the same :)

Anyway, onward to the photos! Here are some decorative courtyard windows that I found, only a couple of weeks ago. These are right outside the dining area of a wedding hall, and provide something nice to talk about when you're mingling and waiting to go in:

Perhaps not the very most useful windows when judged by which best keep you out of the rain, but these do pretty well on the adorable scale!

Please join our meme, Whimsical Windows, Delirious Doors! The meme is open all week, so feel free to come back anytime and post your photo of a window, door, or anything architectural. Then link to your post, right here in the widget. Have a great week, everyone!

Macro Monday - around the office

A few weeks ago they were upgrading something in our electrical setup at work, and we were without electricity for around 45 minutes. I wandered around, taking shots of everyday things and trying to make them a little interesting. I already showed you the outdoor ones, now you get to see the stuff I found indoors. Can you guess what any of these items are?

Feel free to click on any of these, if you'd like an even closer view :)
And please tell me your guesses in the comments!

Skywatch Friday - Rain and Clouds

It's been a rainy, cold, foggy week, and we Israelis are thrilled to get the precipitation! Yea for rain! I could personally do without the cold, but I've been told that it's good for fruit trees, so I'm trying not to complain about that, and make sure that I always have gloves :)

Anyway, today was the first dry-ish day, although the clouds were still thick. Here's what the sky looked like this afternoon, just around sunset:

I like this one! Please feel free to click on this for a better view. It might even make a nice background for your computer screen :)
